About the service

Concrete Surface Preparation and Levelling

Concrete grinding uses diamond tooling to remove a controlled amount from the top of a concrete surface. It can reduce high areas, smooth rough patches and remove some existing coatings, adhesives or surface contamination.

Grinding is often one step in a larger flooring system. The required surface profile depends on whether the floor will receive epoxy, urethane, tile, another coating or a different finished surface. The next-floor requirements should be confirmed before work begins.

Common applications

Concrete Grinding Applications

Titan grinds residential, commercial and industrial concrete. The method and tooling are selected around the existing surface, the material being removed and what will be installed next.

High-Spot Reduction

Reduce raised areas and improve transitions across uneven concrete surfaces.

Coating Preparation

Create a suitable concrete profile before epoxy, urethane or other coatings.

Adhesive & Paint Removal

Mechanically remove many old adhesives, paints and surface-applied materials.

Rough Surface Smoothing

Smooth rough concrete repairs, surface imperfections and inconsistent transitions.

Trip-Edge Reduction

Reduce appropriate raised edges where a smoother transition is required.

Large Floor Areas

Prepare warehouse, garage, basement, retail and industrial concrete floors.

Why Titan

A Better Surface Starts With the Right Scope

The correct result is not always a polished floor. Titan reviews the next flooring or coating system, concrete condition, access, dust requirements and practical tolerances before work begins.

Matched to the Next Finish

The target profile is planned around the coating, adhesive or flooring system that follows.

Controlled Material Removal

Diamond tooling is selected for the concrete, existing material and required removal.

Dust & Site Planning

Dust collection, containment, access and cleanup are reviewed around site conditions.

Clear Expectations

We discuss target areas, visible defects and practical limits before grinding starts.

How it works

Our Concrete Grinding Process

The best grinding plan starts with the finish that will follow and a clear look at the existing concrete.

01

Confirm the Finished Floor

Tell us why the floor is being ground and what coating, adhesive or flooring system will follow.

02

Review the Existing Surface

We look at high spots, rough areas, coatings, glue, cracks, repairs and access. A test area may help when the material is unknown.

03

Plan the Work Area

Equipment access, power, dust management, occupied areas and cleanup requirements are reviewed before scheduling.

04

Grind the Concrete

Titan uses selected diamond tooling to remove the required surface material in a controlled manner.

05

Check the Result

The completed area is reviewed against the agreed scope before the next trade or flooring stage begins.

Access and building rules can matter as much as square footage. Mention freight-elevator dimensions, loading access, working-hour restrictions and whether the site will remain occupied when requesting an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Concrete Grinding Work

A useful estimate starts with the existing floor condition and the result required by the next trade. Photos and product information help us narrow down the right approach.

Grinding removes material and prepares or corrects the surface. Polishing is a multi-step finishing process intended to produce a refined, often glossy concrete floor. Some projects involve both, but they are not the same service.

Many paints, adhesives and surface coatings can be mechanically removed, but results depend on the product, thickness and how strongly it is bonded. Photos or a small test area can help establish the right approach.

Grinding can reduce high spots and improve transitions. It does not fill low areas or correct underlying slab movement, so levelling compounds or repairs may also be needed.

Grinding creates fine dust, which is why collection and containment need to be part of the plan. Tell Titan about occupied or sensitive areas when requesting the work.

Send the site address, approximate square footage, photos, the existing coating or floor covering, the reason for grinding, the flooring system that will follow, access details and your project schedule.
